I quit smoking

Posted on Jan 21st, 2007 by Stella Luna : Incandescent Stella Luna
that was and still is a goal of mine- to quit smoking and keep from smoking again.  Im at day number 3-I know its early to say I quit, but I just have to get through the week, and it will get easier.  Its easy right now because no one around me smokes, and I dont have a car to drive to buy cigarettes..and now that Im already going through the withdrawals, it would be rediculous to submit myself to these headaches even one day longer than I have to.

SO on the list of things to stop doing:
drinking
smoking
swearing (yep, Im like a sailor, unfortunately)
pot
any drug that alters my state of mind
allowing the physical state of my body to effect the emotional.

Of course all those things are really easy to stop if Im not around anyone that does them...Which at the moment, I am not.  Anyone want to offer some support as I try and kick my bad habits?  I would be glad to offer mine!  And if you know of more bad habits I might have (like using too many commas in a sentence, or jumping into the middle of a conversation without knowing where its coming from or where its going) let me know, and Ill try to keep an eye on it.

=)

yay for you!!! Having been there 5 years ago, I know how hard this is. My experience was that I was never able to quit for good until I was no longer around others who smoke. You probably don’t want to hear that but it is a reality of dealing with an addiction. Oh now I remember what helped me! THis is kinda weird but maybe you’ll find it amusing. One day I saw an overweight woman driving a beat up old minivan with kids in the back…. and she was smoking. the image repulsed me so much and made me think “i don’t ever want to be like that”. LOL is that awful?

Keep going and do this now Stella Luna, don't wait another minute.  I am on day 15 of not smoking, after smoking for 31 years, incessantly, without pause.  I feel so much better, can dance for almost 1/2 an hour without stopping or panting.  Yeah, I still want to smoke, probably more often than not but I have made the choice to not do it.  And that's about all it has come down to, making a simple choice.  Best wishes to you!!!
